SIGNAL
Effective March 1, 2026, the "Design Specification for Hydrogen-based Shaft Furnace Direct Reduction Process," China's first group standard for this technology led by HBIS Group, has been implemented. The standard mandates the use of high-grade pellet ore as the core raw material, eliminating high-carbon sintering and coking processes to cut emissions at the source. It requires enclosed raw material pretreatment for dust-free processing and the integration of iron-containing dust recycling systems.
Green hydrogen is designated as the core reducing agent, with green power required for hydrogen production, shaft furnace heating, and electric furnace melting. The specification incorporates top gas waste heat recovery and hydrogen-rich off-gas circulation systems. It adopts HBIS's proprietary "Rich Hydrogen Zero-Reforming Direct Reduction Technology," using high-purity hydrogen instead of coke. This process produces only water vapor with zero carbon dioxide emissions. All material transport is enclosed, and operations are managed via digital intelligent control systems.
