OceanU3: Deep-Sea Integrated Energy System Solutions

OceanU3 is a marine energy project consulting service provided by U3, integrating the world's most advanced marine engineering technologies and energy market concepts.

I. Paradigm Shift in Deep-Sea Energy Development

The focus of global energy development is shifting from land to sea, and from nearshore to deep-sea. When water depths exceed 50 meters and offshore distances surpass 100 kilometers, the traditional logic of "competing on electricity prices" becomes obsolete. It is replaced by the ultimate test of survivability in extreme environments, full-lifecycle engineering cost control, and multi-energy complementary system integration.

OceanU3 is born for this new battlefield. We do not merely deliver single equipment; we deliver a deep-sea engineering system validated by 40 years of extreme environment operations. We rewrite the "rules of the game" in energy development from simple power generation to a systematic victory of "Marine Engineering + Multi-Energy Fusion."

II. Core Capabilities: A Dimensional Leap from Oil & Gas Engineering to Wind Power

The essence of deep-sea wind power is marine engineering, not simple electricity production. OceanU3 inherits the genes of top-tier marine oil and gas engineering, possessing the capability to operate continuously for 30 years under extreme conditions such as 1,500-meter ultra-deep water and Category 17 typhoons.

  • Survivability in Extreme Environments: We directly translate the experience of oil and gas platforms resisting typhoons and corrosion in the deep waters of the South China Sea to offshore wind power facilities, ensuring the safety of installations in water depths of 120 meters and beyond.
  • Cost Control Authority: In deep-sea projects, offshore engineering costs account for over 60% of the total. OceanU3 masters the full-chain engineering capabilities from platform construction and subsea pipeline laying to heavy lifting, fundamentally controlling capital expenditure.
  • Full-Lifecycle O&M: Leveraging experience in all-weather operations and maintenance over 100 kilometers offshore, we solve the pain points of "difficult and costly O&M" in the deep sea, ensuring long-term stable returns on energy assets.

III. Technical Roadmap: Building an "Owner-Level" Ecosystem Alliance

Facing the technical uncertainty of unit capacities evolving from 10 MW to 18 MW and beyond, OceanU3 abandons the simple equipment procurement model and instead builds a "Technical Roadmap Alliance."

As the core "Owner" (Party A) in the consortium, OceanU3 integrates global top-tier wind turbine technologies (such as ultra-large MW units from Mingyang Smart Energy) with its own sea area resources and engineering capabilities. This deep division of labor allows us to lock in the most advanced typhoon-resistant customized designs and floating technologies in advance, mitigating the risks of single technical routes. We are not just applying standards; through validation in actual scenarios, we are co-creating industry standards for deep-sea wind power with industry giants, building an ecological barrier that latecomers cannot easily surmount.

One of the Systems Built by OceanU3:

  • Offshore Wind Power ← Provides green electricity
  • Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms ← Provide operational scenarios and transmission networks
  • Offshore Hydrogen Production ← Consumes fluctuating power, produces green hydrogen
  • CCUS Technology ← Captures and stores carbon dioxide, achieving carbon neutrality
  • Offshore Energy Storage ← Balances power fluctuations

When these elements are combined, a new business model emerges: the Offshore Integrated Energy Island. This is not a concept, but a reality in the making.

Scenario 1: Powering Oil & Gas Platforms
An offshore oil and gas platform powered by traditional diesel generators consumes about 5,000 tons of diesel annually, costing over 30 million RMB and generating about 16,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Switching to offshore wind power not only achieves zero emissions but also saves on electricity costs. With over 300 oil and gas platforms and floating facilities, switching entirely to wind power could save significant annual costs while reducing carbon emissions.

Scenario 2: Hydrogen Production and Transmission
The fatal flaw of offshore wind power is its volatility—excess generation cannot be consumed when the wind is strong, and supply is insufficient when it is weak. However, using surplus power to electrolyze seawater for hydrogen production converts "fluctuating electricity" into "stable hydrogen." More importantly, existing offshore natural gas pipeline networks can transport green hydrogen ashore directly, eliminating the need for new hydrogen transmission infrastructure.

Scenario 3: CCUS Closed Loop
In Huizhou, Guangdong, the first ten-million-ton-level CCUS cluster project in China has been launched. It will transport CO2 emitted by enterprises in the Daya Bay area to the Pearl River Mouth Basin sea area and inject it into deep underground saline aquifers (1,200-1,600 meters) for permanent storage. The best sites for CO2 storage are precisely depleted oil and gas fields due to their stable geological structures and good sealing properties.

These three scenarios combine to form a commercial closed loop:

Engineering Implementation, Module Selection

  • Path A: Wind Power Generation → Powering Oil & Gas Platforms (Cost Savings) → Surplus Power for Hydrogen Production (New Revenue) → Hydrogen Transport via Pipeline (Zero-Cost Infrastructure) → CO2 Storage in Depleted Fields (Turning Waste into Treasure) or Methanol Production.
  • Path B: Wind Power Generation → Green Electricity to Hydrogen (By-product Revenue) → Hydrogen Transport via Pipeline (Zero-Cost Infrastructure) → Ashore.
  • Path C: Wind Power Generation → Green Electricity to Hydrogen (By-product Revenue) → Coupling with CO2 or Nitrogen → On-site Methanol or Ammonia Production → 1. Transport via Pipeline (Zero-Cost Infrastructure) → Ashore; 2. On-site Bunkering for Ships; 3. On-site Containerization for Global Buyers.

IV. Ultimate Form: The "Emergence Effect" of Offshore Integrated Energy Islands

The ultimate vision of OceanU3 is to create "Offshore Integrated Energy Islands." Through systematic top-level design, we combine originally isolated energy elements to emerge with commercial value that single elements cannot possess.

  • Energy Supply Revolution: Utilizing offshore wind power to replace traditional diesel generation for offshore oil and gas facilities provides green power, directly cutting operating costs and carbon emissions.
  • Green Hydrogen Closed Loop: Addressing the volatility of wind power, we introduce seawater hydrogen production modules. Surplus power is converted into green hydrogen, solving the consumption issue while utilizing existing subsea natural gas pipelines to transport hydrogen ashore without redundant infrastructure construction.
  • Carbon Capture and Storage: Combining CCUS technology, industrial CO2 emissions are stored in depleted oil and gas reservoirs, transforming from a "carbon source" to a "carbon sink."

V. OceanU3 Value Proposition
