Signals:
As of April 2026, progress on 13 mainstream green hydrogen-ammonia-methanol projects in China reveals a divergence: some have achieved commercial breakthroughs, while others face delays or exaggerated claims.

In the green ammonia sector, Envision Energy's Chifeng project in Inner Mongolia (Phase I, 320,000 tonnes) commenced operations in July 2025 and completed the world's first commercial export of green ammonia to South Korea in February 2026. State Power Investment Corporation's Jilin Da'an project (180,000 tonnes/year) had operated continuously for nearly five months by March 2026, with cumulative production exceeding 30,000 tonnes. Furthermore, projects by Shenzhen Energy (Etuokeyi), CNNC (Keyouqianqi), and Guohua (Cangzhou) are advancing according to plan.

In the green methanol sector, Shanghai Electric's Taonan project (Phase I, 50,000 tonnes) supplied fuel to CMA CGM vessels in March 2026. CIMC Enric's Zhanjiang project (50,000 tonnes/year) obtained EU ISCC certification and realized exports. Goldwind Green Chemical's Xing'an League project has signed partial letters of intent and currently possesses small-batch supply capabilities.

Regarding integrated hydrogen-ammonia-methanol operations, China Energy Engineering's Songyuan project Phase I commenced production in December 2025, reaching an 80% load factor for ammonia synthesis. China Tianying's And project, originally scheduled for Q4 2026, is considered optimistic and is expected to be delayed until the first half of 2027.

CONTEXT:
The industry is shifting from proof-of-concept to actual capacity release and commercial validation, resulting in increased market transparency.

IMPLICATION:
U3 is dedicated to the development and investment of global circular carbon infrastructure, focusing on the window of real capacity release for green hydrogen derivatives in China to asset development and project cooperation based on genuine supply and demand.
