EPS-H2GEN

EPS-H2GEN – Support Offshore Seawater-to-Hydrogen Dedicated Electrolyzer

EPS-H2GEN is a high-power, marine-optimized PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolysis system engineered for deepwater floating offshore wind platforms. Designed to operate reliably in harsh ocean environments, it integrates seawater desalination with ultra-pure water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen on-site—eliminating the need for costly subsea transmission infrastructure.

Key features include:

  • Modular capacity: 500–3000 Nm³/h, scalable to 50 MW clusters
  • Ultra-low energy consumption: ≤4.3 kWh/Nm³
  • Rapid dynamic response: ≤5 seconds, ideal for direct coupling with variable wind power
  • Marine-hardened design: corrosion-resistant materials, anti-sloshing stack structure, and lightweight skid mounting
  • Smart unmanned operation: AI-driven remote monitoring and predictive maintenance via satellite

Compliant with CCS Guidelines for Offshore Hydrogen Production Facilities (2025) and international safety standards, IEPONE-H2GEN enables cost-effective, zero-carbon hydrogen production at sea—turning offshore wind into transportable green fuel for industry, shipping, and beyond.

Description

IEPONE-H2GEN

Offshore Seawater-to-Hydrogen Dedicated Electrolyzer Solution

1. Product Positioning

IEPONE-H2GEN is a high-power PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) water electrolysis hydrogen production system specifically designed for deepwater floating offshore wind platforms. It adopts a "seawater desalination + pure water electrolysis" technical pathway, ensuring long-term stable operation under harsh marine conditions. This solution strictly complies with the China Classification Society (CCS) Guidelines for Offshore Hydrogen Production Facilities (2025), supporting off-grid operation, remote intelligent control, and unmanned maintenance—enabling on-site conversion of offshore wind power into high-purity green hydrogen.

Note: The system does not directly electrolyze seawater. A pre-installed high-efficiency reverse osmosis (RO) unit ensures feedwater conductivity < 0.1 μS/cm to protect PEM stack longevity.

2. Core Technical Specifications (Integrated from Leading Domestic Capabilities)

Item Technical Specification
Hydrogen Production Capacity 500–3000 Nm³/h (modularly scalable)
DC Power Consumption ≤ 4.3 kWh/Nm³ (@1.0–2.0 A/cm²)
Dynamic Response Time ≤ 5 seconds (compatible with wind power fluctuations)
Hydrogen Purity ≥ 99.99% (compliant with GB/T 37244-2018)

3. Offshore Engineering Adaptability Design

  • Anti-sloshing Structure: Proprietary flow field and elastic stack fixation technology ensure sealing integrity and mass transfer efficiency under 6-degree-of-freedom platform motion
  • Corrosion Protection: Full system meets ISO 12944 C5-M marine corrosion class; critical components use titanium alloys/duplex stainless steel
  • Lightweight Skid-mounted Design: Overall weight >60% lighter than equivalent alkaline systems, enabling helicopter transport and rapid platform deployment
  • Intelligent O&M: AI-powered predictive maintenance + satellite communication for global remote diagnostics and auto-start/stop

4. Compliance & Certification

  • Design Standards:
    • CCS Guidelines for Offshore Hydrogen Production Facilities (2025)
    • GB/T 45539—2025 Technical Requirements for PEM Electrolyzers
    • ISO 22734 (Safety for Hydrogen Generation Systems)
  • Certification Status:
    • System is undergoing CCS classification survey (including design review, construction inspection, and type testing)
    • Key components already certified to CE, ATEX, and other international standards (by select suppliers)

5. Application Scenarios

  • Deepwater floating offshore wind-to-hydrogen projects (e.g., Hainan, Jiangsu, Guangdong demonstration sites)
  • Green hydrogen replacement on offshore oil & gas platforms (for fuel or chemical feedstock)
  • Off-island microgrid hydrogen energy storage
  • Front-end hydrogen supply for green ammonia/green methanol synthesis

6. Integration of Domestic Technical Capabilities

This solution integrates core capabilities across China’s PEM hydrogen production value chain:

  • High-performance MEAs: Reduced precious metal loading (down 40%), current density up to 2.5 A/cm²
  • High-precision Assembly: Automated stacking process, leak rate ≤ 0.2%/h
  • Efficient Control System: Direct DC-DC coupling with wind turbines eliminates frequency converters, reducing CAPEX by >15%
  • Modular Architecture: Scalable from 5 MW to 50 MW clusters, adaptable to various offshore wind farm sizes

7. Economics & Delivery

  • CAPEX: desalination, control system, and installation
  • OPEX Advantage: Reduces total levelized energy cost by over 30% compared to the "offshore wind + subsea cable" alternative
  • Delivery Lead Time: 6–8 months (standard module); custom designs supported
  • Validation Status: 168-hour full-power testing completed; currently in a six-month real-sea demonstration phase
